Course Narrative
This course was the most interesting course I ever took at CSU Monterey Bay, this course is something that really interests me. In this class I was able to perform an introductory ranslation assignments from Spanish to English and vice versa. Just like my fellow classsmates I was able to develop an understanding of translation theory through reading and class discussion and come to understand communicative translation and compare it to a direct, word-for-word approach. Problematic grammatical, discursive, and pragmatic issues are analyzed and the grammar of Spanish is reviewed in detail. This class is going to help me with my future career whether I decide to receive my masters degree or decide to start a career where I can either become a translator or interpreter. Although, I did learn a lot through the variety of projects, presentations, tests and other assignments I would like to continue with more courses like this one in order to better both my Spanish and English. Through this course I was able to fulfill MLO 2 which required us to develop an understanding of the structure of the Spanish language and we were able to use an appropriate level of formality according to the situation, whether in writing or in speech. This class was a bit challenging but interesting.
(The following completed and graded assignments illustrate my development in the area of linguistics)
