Course Narrative
Through this course I was able to be introduced to the scientific study of language, which included theoretical concepts (e.g. structural linguistics, sociolinguistics, language development in first and second language acquisition) and application of linguistics in reading and writing development. Students develop a knowledge base in linguistics, phonemic awareness, and syntax, and apply it in real-world educational settings. This course satisfied MLO 2, which helped me develop an understanding of the structure of the Spanish language and I was able to use an appropriate level of formality according to the situation, whether in writing or in speech. While completing this course it was a bit challenging because it was an English linguistic course. I learned a lot from this course but I would like to further my skills in this topic. This class was my least favorite. However, I would like to keep taking linguistic courses because these courses will help me with my masters degree.
(The following completed and graded assignments illustrate my development in the area of linguistics)
