SPAN 304: Intro to Hispanic Literat
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Conducted in Spanish, the course introduces the principles of literary analysis, based on reading and discussion of Hispanic literary texts. Includes fiction, drama, essay, and poetry from Spain and Spanish America.
Course Narrative
Through this course I was able to learn more on the Hispanic Literature and was introduced to the principles of literary analysis based on reading and discussion of Hispanic literary texts, including fiction, drama, essay, an poetry from Spain and Spanish America. This class was interesting but not something that I wanted to learn much about, but since it was a requirement I was forced to take. Although, I did learn a lot through a variety of tests, poems and literature, projects and assignments. As a Spanish major I was required to take this course in order to meet MLO 3 the literary and cultural knowledge requirement. MLO 3 required me to develop a reasonable understanding of the ways of thinking (ideas, beliefs, attitudes, values, philosophies), the behavioral practices (patterns of social interactions) and the cultural products – both tangible and intangible (for example, art, history, literature, music) — of Hispanic cultures. For future references I would not like to take more courses like this one for the reason that I am more interested in the language and linguistics. In my opinion, although I did learn about literary analysis but it is something that will not help me with my major in the long run.
(The following completed and graded assignments illustrate my development in the area of culture)
